Awards 2021

2020 saw a period where pretty much everything changed in a blink of an eye. Including all Philippines traditional awards for the year. This is one thing Patricia & I dearly missed.

Well 2021 is trying to get back to some normalcy & so far we’ve been fortunate to receive a few awards on 2 separate occasions. Patricia & I have both been recognised for our humanitarian efforts. The clinic has been recognised for Icon Brand of the Year. & lastly Patrica was given Women of the World title for 2020.

Patrica & I are both honoured to receive such prestigious awards this year, especially after we’ve all been through in 2020. We’re so happy to see things starting to come back to life.

We are often asked, what’s the secret to our business success. Really there are 3 components to our success.

  1. Patricia is the marketing master & has a work ethic that just doesn’t stop.
  2. We have assembled an amazing team that believes in our mission.
  3. We deliver an amazing service.

Winning all of our awards is really a testament to those 3 components. We always give glory to god for without him none of this would be possible. We know he uses us to help all people live a healthier life.

Rope Climbs & Life

Nobody needs to hear from me that life is hard. Any adult already knows this. I like to focus on how we handle life’s obstacles.

Of course everyday we experience stress but for most people this is manageable. But every now & then we experience a much more severe form of stress. The type of stress that takes our breath away. We hear some bad news or experience extreme sadness. How do we handle these moments.

I’m fortunate because I’ve been around Patricia Javier for the past 15+ years. Anyone that knows her knows she’s one of most positive people you’ll ever meet. She has definitely taught me a lot. Remaining positive no matter the situation is absolutely a great place to start when it comes to handling stress.

Another powerful tool when it comes to dealing with stress is not giving the situation power. Don’t add fuel to fire by dwelling on it. Of course some situations are harder to do that than others but disarming a stressful situation is a fast way to move on. A great exercise to do this is writing. Putting pen to paper & allow your mind to flow. Write what you’re feeling, how feel & how you can improve the situation. Don’t give it power, disarm it.

Accepting the situation & moving on. Once you finally accept the situation & move on you’re basically liberating yourself from the stress. You’re giving your conscious mind the go ahead to be free of the stress.

There are so many ways to deal with stress. These are just a few that have recently come to my mind. In my last book I give some great tools on meditation as this method is proven to be highly effective when dealing with extreme stress.

No matter the exercise, no matter the therapy what needs to be done is forward motion. Without forward motion we are in quicksand.

Life is like rope climbs, it is painful, it will burn, you may want to quit but if you just keep putting one hand over the other & don’t quit you will make it to the top.

Please comment below what are some ways you handle stress. I’d love to hear your ideas.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Everyone knows that losing weight is not easy to achieve. Countless health books and magazines suggest different tips and tricks on how to lose weight, but sometimes everything is still a matter of trial and error. While people focused on what and what not to eat, when to eat was often overlooked. However, with the popularity of intermittent fasting, losing weight becomes a different ball game.

Intermittent fasting strictly allows you to eat during a particular time. The catch is, some kinds of intermittent fasting allows people to eat normally on some days but extremely cut down on their calories for the next few days. Another one allows people to eat for some hours in a day, but completely fast for the remaining hours.

You may wonder, how does it work or is this diet trend safe? According to neuroscientist Mark Mattson, Ph.D, when the body is not able to absorb food for hours, it uses up sugar stores and burns fats. Intermittent fasting extends the period of time it burns the calories from your last meal, resulting in weight loss. Consequently, it offers other health benefits including lowering risks of type 2 diabetes and reducing inflammation in the body. This is probably because of the fact that when your cells are under mild stress because of fasting, its ability to fight such circumstances is strengthened and becomes ideal in combating diseases.

The two most popular intermittent fasting plans are 16/8 and 5:2. The 16/8 fasting is easier to follow and remember because it is basically eating for eight hours and skipping meals for the next 16 hours. On the other hand, the 5:2 approach gives you the freedom to eat regularly for five days and limits you to a quarter of your normal calories in a day for two days. That means you need to watch your calories up until 500-600 only. The best way to identify which schedule would work for you is by consulting with an expert in IF.

Intermittent fasting might be strict on when you should eat, but it is still necessary to pick the right kinds of food on the days or hours you can eat regularly. Everyone is still encouraged to choose healthy foods, and avoid desserts and processed foods.

It is also important to drink plenty of water during intermittent fasting to avoid dehydration. On days intermittent fasting can be really difficult to follow, water, tea, or coffee can help ease your feeling of hunger. With discipline and determination, intermittent fasting can guarantee you the result you want to achieve.

Keto Diet: Is it good for you?

Since 2016, the curiosity of people about ketogenic diet has been evident through different media platforms including Google Trends. Hundreds of Facebook pages about ketogenic diet are also available for anyone. Even celebrities have a huge contribution in disseminating information about its wonders. The now popular diet is often associated with ways how people can lose weight, but its effectiveness is often challenged by other health experts.

Does the ketogenic diet really work? Is it safe?

The human body needs food as its main source of energy to work on its daily activities. It uses the glucose from carbohydrate foods like rice, fruits, starchy vegetables, and more. In times when the body lacks intake of these foods, it burns fats as substitute and produces molecules called ketones. The process is called ketosis.

In the medical field, ketogenic diet or keto diet is initially for treatment of children with epilepsy, as it has been found to lessen the occurrence of seizures. Keto diet aims to use high-protein and high fat foods instead of carbohydrates as the body’s source of energy. However, it attracted more people when mainstream media widely considered it as a weight loss regimen. In order to make it work for people who want to lose weight, the Standard Ketogenic Diet (SKD) suggests 70-75% fat, 20% protein and 5-10% carbs. Among the biggest keto myths is that it has totally zero carbs. On the contrary, keto diet still has carbs, but sugar and starches are replaced with low glycemic carbs coming from vegetables. Carbohydrates are really effective in making anyone gain weight, hence cutting them from your diet can really make the difference.

Keto diet is a strict low-carb diet. It is important that people who want to try it know the right food to jumpstart their journey. These foods include high-fat meats, fish, oils, nuts, high-fat dairy, and low-carb vegetables. Among the foods you need to avoid are bread, pasta, rice, and most conventional baked goods. The best drinks to pair your diet with are water and unsweetened coffee or tea.

Despite its many benefits, keto diet is still not advisable to everyone, especially to diabetics and other people who have management problems with blood sugar. People with kidney problems are also discouraged from following the diet.

As a health & wellness expert I believe knowledge gives you options. The more you know about diet & nutrition the more you can experiment with your food. I’m not a huge fan of diets like this as they are not sustainable. I believe in becoming educated about nutrition & applying that knowledge to your life. I believe in balance, & stick with the 90/10 rule. I eat healthy 90% of the time.

How does chiropractic boost the immune system?

When the immune system is active, the human body gets to repair damage, fight infection, and prevent cancer cells. It is directly connected to the nervous system, which guides the immune system cells to where the damaged or infected area is. Failure of the nervous system to respond correctly to a damaged or infected area may result in autoimmune diseases or conditions in which the immune system can no longer differentiate the body’s own cells from foreign cells.

One of the reasons why the nervous system experiences malfunction is because of obstructions such as structural shifts in the spine and compression of nerve pathways. Freeing the nervous system from these obstructions allows the body to respond effectively. The best way to do that is through chiropractic. Chiropractic aims to remove interferences in the nervous system through spinal manipulation that not only boosts the immune system but also improves overall health.

Chiropractic has been found effective in helping boost the immune system. According to The Chiropractic Journal published in 1989chief of cancer prevention research at New York’s Preventive Medicine Institute and professor of medicine at New York University Ronald Pero Ph.D. found out in his three-year initial study that patients who received chiropractic care have 200% greater immune competence compared to patients who did not.

In 1991, Patricia Brenna Ph.D. also proved the positive effects of chiropractic on the immune system when her study revealed that patients who received chiropractic manipulation in the thoracic region have higher white blood cell response in the first 15 minutes.

In this time of the pandemic, people are advised to boost their immune system to protect the body against foreign invaders. Chiropractic certainly aids in the nervous system so the immune system can function properly especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a matter of fact, chiropractic has already been found beneficial during the 1918 flu pandemic. Studies show that 50 medical doctors were able to treat 4,953 cases, with 274 deaths in Davenport, Iowa while 150 chiropractors from Palmer School of Chiropractic were able to treat 1,635 cases with one death in the same city.

While chiropractic can be an excellent help in boosting the immune system, people should remember that prevention is always better than cure. It means that you do not need to wait for sickness before you start receiving chiropractic care. With a proper diet and healthy lifestyle, receiving chiropractic care soon can definitely keep you away from diseases, infections, and other sicknesses.

How important is your sleeping position?

Sleeping contributes to a person’s well-being more than we realise. It restores energy and plays an important role in temperature regulation, immune system, hormone levels, and appetite. However, most people do not realize that during their sleep, their sleeping position matters.

In general, side sleeping is the best sleeping position. It allows the neck and back to stay aligned while the airways are open and the esophagus is elevated. Side sleeping is helpful for people with back pain, sleep apnea, and acid reflux. It is also advisable for pregnant women as it helps in maximum blood flow and kidney function, getting rid of swelling in the body. While sleeping on the side has been found beneficial for people with certain conditions, it may still cause shoulder stiffness and can make the jaw tight.

Another sleeping position that can improve the quality of sleep is back sleeping. It has many benefits like avoiding neck pain and protecting the spine. Unlike side sleeping, back sleeping does not cause sagging and wrinkles. People experiencing heartburn can even find comfort in back sleeping with their head slightly elevated.

Some people classify themselves as stomach sleepers, but unfortunately, they need to start changing positions now. According to SleepAdvisor.org, there are three main reasons why sleeping on the stomach is bad: 1.) It places a strain on the spine, 2.) It causes pain in the neck, and 3.) It’s unsafe for pregnant women. Stomach sleeping unevenly distributes the weight of your body making the head and limbs higher than the core. This results in spine misalignment and often leads to neck and back pain. It may be challenging to change sleeping positions, but avoiding stomach sleeping can prevent different health conditions.

Picking the right sleeping position should still not compromise your comfort. Make sure that along with your sleeping positions, you also consider the right pillow and mattress. Also, remember that clean sheets contribute to the quality of your sleep. These little details may be sometimes overlooked, but it can make positive changes in your sleep.

Summary:

Good position: Back & Side

Avoid: Sleeping on your stomach

The purpose of this blog is to enlighten everyone to all of the small details that contribute to our overall health & well-being.

Bacteria does a body good?

People mistakenly thought that bacteria are always harmful to one’s health. Throughout the years, the idea of good and bad bacteria has cleared out this misconception and introduced the benefits of having the right balance between the two. Studies show that the right balance in the body is composed of 85% good bacteria and 15% bad bacteria. This simply means that more good bacteria should be available to eliminate extra bad bacteria, especially when infection occurs.

The best and most popular good bacteria are probiotics. Probiotics are live microorganisms naturally residing in and on the body. They are beneficial for everyone’s health, mainly in the digestive system. When these good bacteria get flushed out of the system, eating probiotic food or taking probiotic supplements can fix the equilibrium.

There are two common types of probiotics found in food items: lactobacillus and bifidobacterium. Lactobacillus is a friendly type of bacteria found in yogurt, other fermented food, and supplements. Different strains probiotics help alleviate different health problems. Lactobacillus acidophilus benefits the body in many ways including preventing diarrhea, reducing cholesterol, promoting weight loss, and many more. On the other hand, lactobacillus bulgaricus can have a positive effect on people with liver disease, common cold, and inflammatory bowel disease. The probiotic bifidobacterium is also a good kind of bacteria that can be found in dairy products. It helps ease gut problems and has shown positive effects on illnesses. Bifidobacterium bifidum has recently gained attention for its ability to restore intestinal bacteria after chemotherapy and treat constipation, lung infection, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) among others. Another kind of bifidobacterium is the multifunctional probiotic bifidobacterium longum. Apart from easing gastrointestinal diseases, studies also show that it can improve immune dysfunction.

Probiotics are essential in keeping bad bacteria and germs at bay. They are proven to aid digest food, get rid of diseases, and produce vitamins. In cases that food sources mentioned above are unavailable, probiotic supplements are the best alternative to easily and quickly acquire its benefits.

Supplementing with probiotics is a great way to enhance all the benefits of healthy bacteria in the gut. I highly recommend finding a quality probiotic & adding this to your daily supplemental routine.

What’s the deal with Vitamin Infusion?

To maintain a healthy body, people need exposure to the sun, get enough fresh air, and have a good amount of sleep. Other vitamins and nutrients can also be obtained naturally through diet. However, many people still experience difficulty in maintaining themselves with the basics. That is why supplements are beneficial in restoring used nutrients in the body.

There are two ways to receive supplements. First is by taking tablets, pills, or capsules orally. While it is the most common way, the absorption takes time as the supplements initially pass through the digestive system. For personalized dosage and faster results, vitamin infusion plays an integral part. This procedure allows the body to absorb vitamins and nutrients intravenously (IV), which means that a mixture of the solution is injected directly into the bloodstream. Unlike taking supplements orally, vitamin infusion gives 100% absorption of the vitamins and minerals.

Vitamin infusion has started as early as the 70s. The first mixture of vitamins B and C, plus calcium and magnesium was given by John Myers, MD for boosting energy and immunity. Today, vitamin infusion is widely popular for its long list of benefits. Some of these infusions are anti-aging, immunity booster, energy booster, NAD+, skin brightening, and slimming therapy. They consist of different dosages and contents of vitamins and minerals, depending on what each body needs.

Here are some of the key ingredients per type of infusion:

Anti-aging – contains collagen, glutathione, and CoQ10. As people grow older, the production of collagen in the body lessens, causing wrinkles and dryness. With the help of the anti-aging shot, collagen is being restored in the body to keep the skin healthy and glowing. Glutathione, on the other hand, acts as the master antioxidant that eliminates free radicals in the body. Lastly, another antioxidant CoQ10 not only helps in skin restoration but is also proven to be beneficial for people with migraines, low sperm count, cancer, gum disease, and many more.

Immunity Booster – contains high doses of glutathione and Vitamin C. Glutathione has proven its many benefits not only on the skin. It also contributes to boosting the immune system by increasing the number of lymphocytes in the body. Apart from glutathione, immunity booster shots come with Vitamin C, which helps in the production of antibodies responsible for searching and destroying the body’s foreign invaders. Lastly Zinc & Selenium which aids cellular detoxification & assists the body’s Immune Function.

Slimming – contains carnitine and Thioctic acid. Carnitine plays an important role in energy production by burning fatty acids to produce energy. Slimming therapy combines carnitine with another powerful antioxidant Thioctic acid that increases the levels of glutathione and reactive oxidants in the body.

Skin brightening – contains glutathione and alpha-lipoic acid. As an antioxidant, glutathione cleanses the skin and gets rid of its impurities resulting in a brighter complexion. Another effective ingredient in skin brightening shot is the alpha-lipoic acid, which stops the damage in the cells and helps restore vitamins E and C.

Popular celebrities have been openly disclosing their vitamin infusion experiences through social media and interviews. Among them are Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Adele, and Simon Cowell. Many of these personalities undergo vitamin infusion because of their busy schedules and energy-draining performances. With vitamin infusion, big stars not only maintain their healthy skin, but they can also easily and quickly keep up with the lost vitamins and minerals.

If you think you do not get enough vitamins and minerals because of work, recent sickness, or even stress, vitamin infusion is definitely for you. People who are unable to properly digest food are highly advised to undergo vitamin infusion as well. Other benefits also include alleviating symptoms of medical conditions such as migraine, chronic pain, Parkinson’s disease, and many more. Just always remember to consult your trusted doctor and have it administered by professionals.

As a health & wellness expert, I have made it my life’s mission to educate the masses on the most powerful ways to improve one’s health. Vitamin infusion is simply amazing & a must for anyone trying to maintain their peak performance. I highly recommend it.
